The mission of North Star Classical Christian School is that we exist so students are anchored in the hope of the gospel, equipped by the classical method and are prepared to lead and live wisely. This is lived out in the form of a classical, Christian school for students in grades K-12. Our goal is to provide a classical education comparable to the high standards set by educators of the past. We, with the support of parents, strive to create an academic community of teachers and learners characterized by the highest expectations in scholarship and Christian character.
North Star currently educates 94 students across grades K-12. Approximately 22 students are members of the Upper School. North Star welcomes any students of any race, sex, religion, and national or ethnic origin. The average class size consists of 15 students. By maintaining a small class size, North Star teachers are able to develop and maintain strong relationships with each student as well as challenge each student in academic rigor.
North Star was established in 2021 to provide a distinctively classical Christian education in greater Lake and Cook county, IL. We are approximately 35 minutes north of downtown Chicago.
The Upper School employs a college-style schedule which operates Monday through Thursday consisting of seven 45 minute rotating class periods in grades 9-12. Fridays consist of at-home learning with structure, guidelines, and accountability.
The academic year consists of two semesters. Only final grades are recorded on the student transcript. Grades are assigned according to the following: 100-90 (A), 89-80 (B), 79-70 (C), 69-0 (F). Grades are unweighted. North Star does not disclose class ranking information.

North Star provides an honors-level curriculum for all students. Every core course from Latin to Algebra represents academic depth and challenge. Though we operate according to a different educational methodology than modern education's weighted courses, North Star courses compare favorably in rigor. All high school literature, languages, theology, rhetoric, history, science, and math classes are taught at the honors level.
North Star Classical Christian School employs the centuries-proven 7 liberal arts classical methodology known as the Trivium and Quadrivium: Grammar, Dialectic, and Rhetoric and Mathematics, Music, Geometry, and Astronomy. At the high school level, spanning Dialectic and Rhetoric, North Star's history and English program focuses on an intensive study of the great writings, people, events, works, and ideas that have formed and reformed civilization as we know it. Special emphasis is given to the study of western culture. The lives and discoveries of the great mathematicians and scientists are interwoven into the great conversation of mankind and are brought to life while our students rigorously practice the experiments and computations of Euclid and Newton. Classic works of our culture are studied within their historical settings and from a traditionally biblical perspective, which helps the students understand how these scientific, artistic, and literary works and the people who created them were influenced by those historical settings. It also reveals the universal nature of the great works, which are classics precisely because they speak to all men through all ages. Emphasis is placed upon reading, writing, speaking, and evidence-based, disciplined debate in all courses. This distinct curricular approach forms part of the paideia of North Star so that our vision of a graduate may be cultivated and lived out in our students. We desire that North Star graduates are characterized by authentic faith, intellectual virtues, a critical mind, compelling communication, and a purposeful perspective.
